Tinsley Terminal

Tinsley Terminal

The Tinsley Railyard known as the former marshalling yard lies on the boundary between the industrial cities of Sheffield and Rotherham. This site was derelict until 2021 when we invested heavily to reactivate part of the site as a new intermodal terminal receiving trains with DB Cargo UK in 2021.

The yard operates 3 trains, day and night, all to Felixstowe, we have been able to reduce our carbon footprint and increase employment opportunities in the region.

Operations Director Stephen Newell said “this is another step towards cutting out carbon footprint and increasing the rail freight services we provide, it will reduce the distance our trucks have to travel and provide more rail freight options for businesses.”

There are plans to further expand the site after this initial investment of over £4 million.

Company founder Frank Newell says “This is just the start of a huge investment into rail freight, we plan to start phase 2 of the development, increasing capacity and job opportunities in the area. The government have asked businesses to reduce emissions, reduce traffic and make changes to support environmental initiatives and that’s exactly what we have done”.
