Container Haulage

Having served the region for over 35 years, Newell & Wright Transport are South Yorkshire's largest privately owned and most successful haulage contractors. Spanning the Sheffield and Rotherham boundary on a 6.5 acre site in Templeborough, our familiar blue and white liveried trucks are seen on motorways up and down the country. We also have several trucks painted up in the colours of Maersk, Samskip and De Rijke amongst others.

Although it would be fair to say that our container services to and from all UK ports form the core of our haulage operation, it was not so long since that we were also servicing the continent with numerous daily departures to all major European destinations. Soaring fuel costs and the general downturn in export cargo and plummeting freight rates forced us to move with the times and rethink our strategy. These days our journeys into Europe are performed on a more selective basis and are usually specials for customers who may have time sensitive or out of gauge cargo. We cater for both and still provide an unrivalled service at a competitive price!

Newell & Wright Transport have also been pioneers when it comes to providing clever solutions for the loading of bulk products. Based on our own innovative design the 'Rocket-Launcher' container trailer chassis has become a familiar site in and around the Sheffield area and is the envy of all other freight operations. The 'Rocket-Launcher' container trailer chassis (shown in the picture) enables our customers to load bulk products into standard general purpose containers without having to resort to the use of very expensive Open Top containers, which would probably have had to have been used instead. This has resulted in a mammoth year on year saving on their annual freight spend for our clients.

With over 120 vehicles currently on the roads, our operation runs 24/7 and the vast majority of the major shipping lines use Newell & Wright Transport as their preferred haulier in our and surrounding regions. Our close links with these lines dovetails perfectly with our Freight Forwarding operation as we get preferential sea freight rates and we are also in a position to discount the haulage if we can.
